Dave Umahi Issues Warnings To Idle Contractors
The Minister of Works, Sen. Dave Umahi, has ordered contractors who collected Advance Payment Guarantees but failed to carry out their projects to return to site or risk losing access to further government funds.
He made it clear that firms holding onto APGs for years without visible progress would no longer be allowed to stall critical infrastructure work.
The ministry, he said, will review such contracts and take action where necessary.
Contractors have been told to resume work immediately or face consequences, including withdrawal of payments and possible termination of their agreements.
The directive is part of efforts to clear long-standing project delays.
Umahi stated that public funds cannot remain locked in abandoned or slow-moving projects while roads and other key works across the country require urgent attention.
He assured that the ministry will push for accountability and timely completion of all ongoing contracts.
