Nigerian music star Davido has expressed deep grief over the recent attack on a church in Kwara State, calling on Nigerians to unite against violence and support victims of insecurity. Speaking on X, he also referenced the ongoing abduction of schoolgirls in Kebbi State, urging citizens to help in rescue efforts.
“My heart goes out to the young girls kidnapped in Kebbi State and to their families. No family deserves this pain. As Nigerians, we must stand together in unity and continue working towards a country where every child can grow up in safety and hope,” he wrote.
The singer addressed the tragic incident at the Christ Apostolic Church in Eruku, Kwara, where gunmen attacked worshippers during an evening service. Reports indicate that at least three people were killed, while several others, including the pastor, were abducted. Security forces and local vigilantes quickly intervened, forcing the attackers to flee, and soldiers have since been deployed to the area.
“I am also deeply saddened by the tragic attack on the church in Kwara State. I pray for the families who lost loved ones and for everyone affected by this heartbreaking incident. These acts of violence must never become our norm,” Davido said.
He called on Nigerians to assist authorities by sharing credible information that could help rescue the kidnapped girls in Kebbi State.
“Everything must be done to bring the Kebbi girls home safely. I urge anyone with credible information to come forward in whatever safe and responsible way they can, so it can support ongoing efforts to rescue them,” he added.
Davido concluded his message with a heartfelt prayer:
“May God watch over the girls until they return. May He comfort the grieving families in Kwara, bring peace to our nation, and put every sponsor of violence and disorder to shame.”
He signed off with his full name, David Adeleke OON (Davido), and captioned the post with “💔🇳🇬.”
Through his message, Davido has highlighted the urgent need for safety, justice, and national unity, encouraging Nigerians to stand together in protecting vulnerable communities from violence.
