Defence Minister Claims After Failed Coup
The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa, has revealed that he was marked for death during a failed military coup, saying the plotters intended to shoot him as part of their plan.
He made the disclosure while speaking on recent threats to national stability and the dangers faced by senior security officials.
He explained that intelligence reports uncovered detailed plans by the coup organisers, including a list of top figures they wanted eliminated.
According to him, his name featured prominently, showing how far the conspirators were willing to go to achieve their aim.
The defence minister said the plot was uncovered before it could be carried out, allowing security agencies to step in and prevent bloodshed.
He added that the failed attempt has strengthened the resolve of the military leadership to protect Nigeria’s democracy and institutions.
He urged Nigerians to support the armed forces as they work to stop internal and external threats to the country’s peace.
