Bryan Mbeumo’s brace helped Manchester United hold off a late Brighton comeback to secure a thrilling 4–2 victory — their third straight Premier League win and their first such run since February 2024. The result lifted Erik ten Hag’s men into fourth place, marking a significant turnaround in form.

United appeared to be in total control after 60 minutes, with goals from Matheus Cunha, Casemiro, and Mbeumo giving them a commanding lead. Cunha ended his long 16-game goal drought with a precise low finish into the corner after a clever pass from Casemiro. The Brazilian midfielder then doubled the advantage with a deflected strike that left Brighton goalkeeper Bart Verbruggen stranded.

Mbeumo, fresh from scoring at Anfield the previous week, added a third for United with a clinical effort from the edge of the box, seemingly putting the game beyond reach.

However, Brighton refused to go quietly. Former United forward Danny Welbeck pulled one back in spectacular fashion, curling a free-kick into the top corner with 16 minutes left. Then, deep into added time, Charalampos Kostoulas flicked home a near-post header to make it 3–2, sparking nervous moments among the Old Trafford faithful.

Just when Brighton threatened a dramatic comeback, Mbeumo struck again — smashing home from 12 yards in stoppage time to seal all three points and restore calm.

The victory not only extended United’s winning streak but also showcased a newfound confidence under Ruben Amorim, who just weeks ago was under pressure after a poor run of results. United could have scored more, with Verbruggen denying Benjamin Šeško and Bruno Fernandes — who made his 300th appearance for the club — but the performance left no doubt that momentum has finally returned to Old Trafford.
