A Federal High Court in Abuja has issued a Form 48 notice against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and its Chairman, Ola Olukoyede, after the agency failed to comply with a court judgment directing the immediate release of 27 houses that were wrongfully seized as alleged proceeds of crime.
The legal notice serves as a formal warning of the consequences of disobeying a valid court order.
Issued on Tuesday by the Court Registrar, the document was addressed personally to the EFCC Executive Chairman.
It stated: “To the Executive Chairman of the EFCC of Plot 301/302, Institute and Research Cadastral District, Jabi, Abuja.
“Take notice that unless you obey the direction contained in the order of the Federal High Court, made on October 31, 2025, which ordered you to immediately release the property documents to the property owners/respondents in suit no: FHC/ABJ/CS/348/2025, you will be guilty of contempt of court.
“This court has been informed that even as of today, December 2, 2025, you are yet to comply with the lawful order of the Federal High Court by refusing to release the property documents to the property owners/respondents.
“You are hereby directed to comply with the order forthwith, or you will be guilty of contempt of court.”
The court had earlier, on October 31, lifted an interim forfeiture order it granted on March 13, which had allowed the EFCC to take temporary possession of the affected properties.
In the judgment delivered by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik, the court ruled that the EFCC did not successfully prove that the properties were illegally acquired.
