Family Cries Out After ICPC Action To El Rufai
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has reportedly declined to grant bail to former Kaduna State governor Nasir el-Rufai following his recent detention.
His aides and family members raised concerns over the development on Monday.
According to those close to him, el-Rufai was taken into custody in connection with an ongoing investigation.
They said efforts to secure his release on bail have not been successful, fuelling anxiety among supporters.
His family described the situation as troubling, insisting that he should be allowed to enjoy his constitutional rights while cooperating with investigators.
They maintained that he has not resisted the probe.
The anti-graft agency has yet to release an official statement explaining the reason for the alleged refusal of bail.
The case has drawn public attention as legal steps are expected in the coming days.
