FG Announces Partial Closure Of Busy Highway
The Federal Government has announced a six-week partial closure of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway to allow for urgent repair works on a key bridge along the route.
The decision affects one of Nigeria’s busiest highways, used daily by thousands of motorists and traders.
The closure is scheduled to begin soon and will involve restricting traffic flow to specific sections while engineers carry out structural repairs.
Authorities say the measure is necessary to prevent further damage and ensure the safety of road users.
During the repair period, motorists are expected to experience delays, especially during peak hours. The government has advised drivers to plan their journeys ahead of time and consider alternative routes where possible to reduce congestion.
Officials assured the public that traffic management measures would be put in place to minimise disruption and that the repairs would be completed within the announced timeframe.
The work is part of ongoing efforts to maintain critical national infrastructure.
