The Federal Government has announced the cancellation of the parade earlier scheduled to mark Nigeria’s 65th Independence Anniversary on Wednesday, October 1.
In a statement from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), the government clarified that the decision does not reduce the importance of the anniversary, emphasizing that other scheduled programmes will still hold as planned.
Director of Information and Public Relations, Segun Imohiosen, said the cancellation should not be seen as diminishing the significance of the milestone, assuring that the government remains committed to celebrating Nigeria’s 65th Independence with dignity and enthusiasm.
The statement expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the cancellation and promised that the anniversary events would still reflect national pride.
The Federal Government thanked Nigerians, the diplomatic community, and invited guests for their understanding and support, urging citizens to continue backing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s reform initiatives aimed at building a greater Nigeria.
