FG Moves To Evacuate Nigerians In Iran
The Federal Government is making arrangements to evacuate about 1,000 Nigerians currently in Iran as tensions continue to rise in the Middle East.
The plan is part of precautionary steps to ensure the safety of citizens living in the country as the situation in the region remains uncertain.
Authorities are working through diplomatic channels and relevant agencies to organise the possible evacuation.
Officials are also monitoring developments closely to determine the safest way to move Nigerians who may wish to return home.
The development comes as economic concerns grow in Nigeria following the crisis in the Middle East.
Reports say petrol prices have continued to climb after the Dangote Petroleum Refinery increased its gantry price to N995 per litre, pushing pump prices above N1,000 per litre in several states.
Meanwhile, other national issues are also drawing attention.
The Central Bank of Nigeria has directed commercial banks to conduct stress tests while monitoring the financial sector for possible risks, and discussions around security reforms such as the creation of state police are gaining momentum amid rising attacks in parts of the country.
