The 43-year-old made the announcement on Wednesday night via her X account, reflecting on her remarkable journey.

“Today, I officially retire from professional football. The journey has been filled with challenges, victories, and lessons that shaped me into who I am today. Though I hang up my boots, my purpose in the game continues — to give back, to guide, and to be a voice for players across Africa and beyond. Thank you,” she wrote.

Ebi started her career in 2001 with Omidiran Babes, where she played for seven years, before a stint at Bayelsa Queens and later a move to Swedish side Piteå.

She remains the most capped Super Falcons player with 109 appearances and is celebrated as the only African footballer to have competed in six FIFA Women’s World Cup tournaments.

During her time with the national team, the veteran defender won the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations four times — in 2010, 2014, 2016, and 2018 — cementing her status as one of the greatest players in African women’s football history.
