Fubara Moves To Fill Cabinet Seats
Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State will swear in five commissioner designates on Wednesday after they were cleared by the State House of Assembly. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Government House in Port Harcourt.
The governor had earlier sent the names of nine nominees to the Assembly, led by Speaker Martin Amaewhule, for screening and confirmation as members of the State Executive Council.
The lawmakers reviewed the nominees during plenary on Monday.
After the screening, the Assembly approved five nominees while rejecting four others.
Lawmakers cited concerns such as poor performance, inconsistencies in submitted documents and petitions from constituents against one of the nominees.
Following the decision, the Assembly informed the governor to proceed with appointing those cleared.
A statement from the Secretary to the State Government, Dagogo Wokoma, confirmed that the swearing in ceremony will hold at the Executive Council Chambers on Wednesday afternoon.
