Former APC National Chairman and ex-Kano State Governor, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, has said that if Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso and his supporters defect to the All Progressives Congress, they will be received “as madmen who returned to their vomit.”

Ganduje also took aim at Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, describing his politics as inconsistent and his administration as “directionless.”

Speaking at an APC stakeholders’ meeting in Kano on Thursday—the first since leaving office—Ganduje dismissed speculation about Kwankwaso’s possible defection, saying the senator lacks the consistency to return after repeatedly mocking the party.

“We’ve heard the rumours, but we don’t take them seriously. Kwankwaso once said only a madman would join APC. He even mocked President Tinubu, claiming he only developed Lagos. Now they want to come back. If they do, we’ll welcome them as madmen who swallowed their vomit,” Ganduje said.

On the prospect of reconciling with Kwankwaso and former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, Ganduje said it was possible, noting their experience could help guide the current administration if unity becomes necessary.

Turning his criticism to Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, Ganduje labelled his administration a “government of vendetta and cluelessness,” accusing it of wasting resources and lacking governance capacity.

“When I took office, I didn’t waste time probing my predecessor. Governance doesn’t end with one administration. But Abba Yusuf began his tenure with probes. What have they achieved? They’ve received more funds in six months than my government saw in eight years, yet there’s no tangible progress,” he said.

He added, “This government is clumsy and confused, spending recklessly on projects with no value for money. It’s like comparing a messenger to a permanent secretary.”

On his removal as APC National Chairman, Ganduje said it was a matter of zoning and political rotation. “The President did not wrong me. Leadership is by God’s will; He gives it to whom He wants,” he stated.

Ganduje also rejected claims that APC is shrinking, insisting the party remains Nigeria’s largest political platform despite some defections.

As of press time, neither Kwankwaso nor Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has responded to Ganduje’s comments.

You truly surpassed her desires. Thanks for showing the great, trusted, educational and even fun guidance on that topic to Kate.
