Gombe Enforces Commercial Bike Ban
The Gombe State Police Command has extended restrictions on commercial motorcycle operations in the state capital, citing rising security concerns.
The measure, which takes effect from April 3, 2026, is aimed at preventing any spillover from recent violence in Jos. Authorities say the restriction will run daily from 7pm to 6am.
The decision followed a security meeting involving police and other stakeholders who reviewed the situation across the state.
Officials agreed to maintain the night ban as a precautionary step to reduce risks. The move is part of wider efforts to keep the metropolis safe amid growing tension in nearby regions.
“The Gombe State Police Command wishes to inform the general public that, following an intensive security meeting with relevant security agencies and critical stakeholders, a comprehensive review of the current security situation was conducted.”
“After thorough deliberations and careful assessment of prevailing security concerns, it was unanimously resolved to maintain the existing restrictions on the use of motorcycles from 7:00pm to 6:00am daily in Gombe metropolis. Enforcement will resume tomorrow, Friday, 03/04/2026.”
“These measures are aimed at preventing the use of motorcycles for criminal activities across the state.” Residents were urged to follow the directive and remain alert, while reporting suspicious activity.
The police also assured the public of continued efforts to protect lives and property.
