Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has signed two new revenue laws intended to increase the state’s internally generated income and promote greater transparency in tax collection.
The laws signed are the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service Establishment Law, 2025, and the Kogi State Taxes and Levies (Approved List for Collection) Law, 2025.
During the signing ceremony on Thursday, Governor Ododo stated that both laws are digital and driven by technology to reduce human interference and enhance accountability.
Governor Ododo explained that the laws exempt individuals who earn below N800,000 annually from taxation and are designed to make it easier for businesses to invest through simplified administrative processes and reduced compliance costs.
“The purpose of these laws is to strengthen our economy, ensure fairness, and protect the dignity of our citizens,” he emphasised.
