A former member of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon Maruf Musa, has reportedly been abducted by suspected kidnappers in Ibiade, located in Ogun Waterside Local Government Area of the state.
Musa previously served in the sixth Assembly of the state legislature.
The former lawmaker was said to have been kidnapped on Tuesday at about 7:00 PM while observing Muslim prayers inside a mosque within his residential compound.
A source revealed that the former legislator was taken away by the gunmen despite efforts by residents who attempted to rescue him from the attackers.
The suspected kidnappers were reported to have fired several gunshots into the air to frighten residents and prevent them from confronting them.
It was further learnt that some residents sustained injuries as a result of the gunfire.
There was no official confirmation of the incident at the time this report was filed.
