Arsenal continued their impressive run of form with a composed 2-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Saturday, tightening their grip at the top of the Premier League table.
The Gunners started strongly and took the lead midway through the first half when Viktor Gyokeres met a perfectly delivered set-piece to nod home his fourth league goal of the season. The Swedish striker’s well-timed header rewarded Arsenal’s early dominance and set the tone for the evening.
Declan Rice, who played a key role in the opener, added his name to the scoresheet ten minutes before halftime. Finishing off a rapid Arsenal counterattack, the England midfielder powered a commanding header into the net, doubling the visitors’ advantage.
After a high-tempo first half, Arsenal eased into control after the break, dictating possession and frustrating Burnley’s attempts to fight back. The hosts showed some late urgency and even hit the post in stoppage time, but Mikel Arteta’s men remained solid and never looked in danger of surrendering their lead.
The result stretched Arsenal’s winning streak in the league to five games, giving them a seven-point cushion over second-placed Bournemouth. Burnley, meanwhile, sit 17th in the table, just four points above the relegation zone as pressure continues to mount on their campaign.
