Health Workers Call Off Months Long Strike
Health workers under the Joint Health Sector Unions have suspended their 84-day strike, bringing relief to patients and public hospitals across the country.
The action followed fresh engagements that led to a breakthrough after months of disruption in health services.
The strike, which began over unresolved welfare and professional concerns, had paralysed many government hospitals, forcing patients to seek costly alternatives or delay treatment.
The suspension allows services to resume while discussions continue.
JOHESU said the decision was taken in the interest of the public and based on assurances received during negotiations with the Federal Government.
The unions noted that progress had been made on key demands, prompting a pause in the industrial action.
Health facilities are now expected to reopen fully as workers return to duty, with stakeholders hopeful that outstanding issues will be resolved to prevent another shutdown of the sector.
