The suspects arrested over the killing of Federal Road Safety Commission officer, Lasisi Funmilayo, and her 12-year-old daughter have narrated how both victims were murdered.
Among those arrested are her male friend, Fajemirokun Victor, 38; an herbalist, Gboyega Aberefa, 39; and the herbalist’s disciple, Sunday James, 38. They also revealed that the victims were butchered, with their heads and several organs removed.
While briefing journalists at the command headquarters on Wednesday, Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Gotan, explained that the investigation began when Fajemirokun’s wife reported to the police that her husband was missing. Officers from the anti-kidnapping unit traced the matter to Ikoyi, where she said he had travelled, but only his vehicle was found abandoned.
Gotan stated that further investigation led to the arrest of the herbalist on November 16. The herbalist confessed that Fajemirokun was a regular client and that he brought the FRSC officer and her daughter to his shrine in Ijebu-Jesa on November 2, 2025, for a money ritual. The killing, he said, was carried out by his boys — Sunday James and two others, Kehinde and Idowu — who are currently on the run.
When questioned by journalists, Fajemirokun admitted that he took the woman to the herbalist because he had been told that her presence in his life was the cause of his problems.
He said, “After taking her to the temple, and I was told she has to be killed for me to make it in life, I agreed to her being killed, but after the act, I was disturbed and ran away. I went back to Ikoyi and dropped my vehicle on the roadside.
“I went to Ibadan and lied to some people that some persons were after my life, so they contributed money for me and advised that I run out of the country; hence, I moved to Ghana.”
Aberefa, the herbalist, also disclosed that it was Fajemirokun who brought the woman and her daughter and insisted that both must be killed.
He explained, “He brought the woman and the daughter to my place and claimed that she was behind his misery, demanding that we kill them. In fact, he wanted to kill her inside my house, but I said no.
“Thereafter, I invited some boys around who took her into the bush, slaughtered the mother and daughter. Remove some vital parts and dump the mother’s body in the river in Esa-Odo and that of the daughter in a bush in the area.”
