IGP Disu Appoints Controversial Officer
The Tunji Disu has approved the posting of Assistant Commissioner of Police Eneze Osareine Makoju-Akaba to serve as Principal Staff Officer II at the Nigeria Police Force headquarters in Abuja.
Eneze’s appointment has stirred controversy due to her prior promotion under former IGP Kayode Egbetokun in 2025, which was widely criticised as “special consideration” favouring officers of Yoruba origin, raising concerns about regional bias within the force.
A top police source noted that Eneze’s promotion from Superintendent to Chief Superintendent, and subsequently to ACP, was considered irregular.
She had previously served under Disu when he was Principal Staff Officer to Egbetokun. Critics say her new posting as PSO under Disu is unmerited.
The internal directive was circulated across all units, instructing immediate update of records and enforcing the posting.
Several officers within the force reportedly expressed discontent over her appointment, citing lack of qualification and perceived nepotism.
The controversy has reignited discussions on the integrity and transparency of promotions within the Nigeria Police Force, particularly under the Egbetokun administration.
