IGP Moves To Block El Rufai Suit
The Inspector General of Police has asked the Federal High Court in Abuja to dismiss the suit filed by former Kaduna State governor Nasir El Rufai challenging the search of his residence in the capital.
El Rufai had approached the court seeking enforcement of his fundamental rights after operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission carried out a search at his Abuja home on February 19.
In a counter affidavit, the police maintained that the operation was lawful and carried out under a valid search warrant issued by a competent court.
The IGP argued that officers involved in the operation followed due legal procedures and urged the court to dismiss the suit in its entirety.
