The trial of Nigerian punter Benjamin Best, known as Killaboi, accused of killing social media influencer Augusta Onuwabhagbe, is set to start on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at the High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos.
Augusta’s mother, Cordelia Okonye, shared the news on Instagram, urging the public to attend the hearing. She posted a photo of Killaboi in handcuffs, writing: “His trial begins this Thursday 15th January 2026 @ The High Court in the TBS by 9am. Come please and listen to the killer of my daughter.”
In another post showing a picture of herself with her late daughter, she added: “If you love us, kindly join us at the High Court at TBS Island on Thursday 15th Jan to listen to the killer.”
Killaboi is accused of murdering 21-year-old Augusta, a first-class student at Lead City University, at his residence in Ajah, Lagos, on July 13, 2023. Following the incident, he fled the country and was declared wanted by Nigerian authorities.
He was later arrested in Qatar in February 2025 and extradited to Nigeria in April 2025, with the operation involving the Nigerian Police, the Ministry of Justice, INTERPOL, and Qatari authorities.
The trial is expected to attract significant public and media attention as Augusta’s family seeks justice for her death.
