Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate Dr. George Moghalu has outrightly rejected the outcome of the November 8, 2025, Anambra State election, which declared incumbent Governor Chukwuma Soludo of APGA the winner, according to INEC’s official announcement.
Speaking from his Nnewi office just hours after the result was announced, Dr. Moghalu expressed deep dissatisfaction with the election, accusing it of multiple irregularities. He highlighted rampant vote buying and alleged underage voting as major flaws in the process.
“The Anambra governorship election did not meet acceptable standards,” he said. “I have participated in past elections, but this one was different—vote buying was shockingly widespread.”
He further alleged that minors were seen with voter cards and allowed to cast votes, raising serious concerns about the election’s credibility.
Additionally, Dr. Moghalu reported that in some polling stations, the Labour Party’s name appeared without its logo on the ballot papers, confusing voters and potentially affecting results.
He promised a more detailed statement after reviewing full reports from his agents across the state. “Once I have all the information, we will analyse and decide on the next steps. But for now, I reject the declared outcome,” he said.
When pressed about possible legal challenges, he said it was too early to say, pending a thorough review of all findings.
Addressing claims that some LP agents abandoned certain polling units, Moghalu suggested their withdrawal was due to frustration with what they witnessed during voting.
