The Senator representing Benue South Senatorial District and Senate Minority Leader, Comrade Abba Moro, has denied reports claiming he is planning to leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement released by his Media Adviser, Emmanuel Eche’Ofun John, Senator Moro dismissed the rumour as “ridiculous,” stressing that he has never discussed defecting with anyone.
According to the statement, the lawmaker—who is one of the founding members of the PDP—remains firmly loyal to the party and has no intention of leaving, despite its ongoing internal challenges.
The statement noted: “Senator Moro finds the rumour ridiculous as there’s no discussion anywhere with anybody to that effect. The Senator, a founding member of PDP, remains fully committed to the ideals and values of the party, and will continue to remain with it.”
Although he acknowledged that the PDP is currently facing internal issues, Moro expressed confidence in the party’s conflict-resolution structures, saying they possess “effective inbuilt mechanisms” capable of resolving its challenges.
He urged members of the public to ignore the rumour, describing it as the handiwork of “mischief makers who are losing sleep over the capability of PDP to rise from the crises stronger and more competitive.”
The Senate Minority Leader also encouraged PDP supporters across the country to remain steadfast and continue working towards rebuilding the party and returning it to winning ways.
