New Boko Haram Footage Sparks Panic in Kwara
Suspected Boko Haram fighters have released a video showing scores of abducted residents from Woro in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The footage, said to feature 176 captives including women and children, surfaced days after the deadly raid on the community.
In the recording, a gunman questions the victims about where they were taken from.
Three women, one of them carrying a baby, say in Hausa that they were seized in Woro.
The group appears worn and distressed, with children standing barefoot and in dirty clothes.
The armed group also accuses the Kwara State Government of downplaying the scale of the abduction.
A voice in the video claims officials told the public that only a few dozen people were taken, insisting the number in their custody is far higher.
The attack on Woro earlier this month left many residents dead, including members of the Emir’s family, while the monarch remains missing.
Authorities had yet to respond to the claims in the latest footage at the time of filing this report, as tension continues to grow in the area.
