A Brazilian billionaire has reportedly left his entire estate, worth around £846 million, to Neymar — despite claims that the two never met.
According to Brazilian outlet RIC, the will was formalised at an office in Porto Alegre and authenticated on June 12 with two witnesses present. The matter now awaits clearance from the courts before Neymar can officially be recognised as the heir.
Local reports suggest the unnamed billionaire, who was childless and single, chose Neymar because he “identified with him on a personal level.” He is said to have admired the footballer’s close relationship with his father, Neymar Sr., which reminded him of his own late father.
Neymar, 33, has not publicly commented on the development, and legal challenges could still arise even if the will is upheld.
The Brazilian star recently returned to his boyhood club Santos in January after a short stint with Saudi side Al-Hilal, scoring three goals in 14 appearances in the second half of the 2024–25 season.
If confirmed, the inheritance would mark one of the most unusual fortunes ever passed on to a footballer.
