Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has boldly declared that he cannot be convicted without a valid written law.
The defiant agitator expressed his frustration during his ongoing terrorism trial at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday.
Kanu, visibly upset, insisted that no one has the authority to convict him, challenging the legitimacy of the charges brought against him.
He is standing trial before Justice James Omotosho on terrorism-related allegations but has refused to present his defense despite the prosecution closing its case.
Kanu argued that the Terrorism Prevention and Prohibition Act, under which he is being prosecuted, has been repealed, making the charges invalid.
In response to his refusal, Justice Omotosho scheduled the judgment to be delivered on November 20, marking the end of a trial that has dragged on for a decade.
Speaking in court, Kanu defiantly stated, “You can’t convict me without a written law. Are you insane? It’s impossible. I’m Nnamdi Kanu. Who else can try this case?”
