The remains of Arise TV journalist and lawyer, Somtochukwu Maduagwu, who reportedly died after jumping from a three-storey building during a robbery incident, will be laid to rest on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

According to a statement released by her family, the funeral service will take place at Saint Theresa Catholic Church in Agulu, Anambra State.

A service of songs will precede the burial, scheduled for Wednesday, October 15, 2025, at the Corpus Christi Cathedral, Kaduna Street, Port Harcourt.

Somtochukwu, popularly known as Sommie, was a UK-trained journalist and lawyer who returned to Nigeria after working abroad for two years. She was also the first runner-up at the Miss Tourism Nigeria pageant.

Her uncle, Engr. Obi Maduagwu, revealed that she had big dreams of contributing to national development, particularly in politics and women’s empowerment.
