Nottingham Forest have dismissed Ange Postecoglou after just 40 days in charge following a dismal run of eight games without a win.

The decision came after a 3-0 home defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, marking Forest’s sixth loss under Postecoglou and leaving them 17th in the Premier League.

The club has failed to win since the season opener under former manager Nuno Espirito Santo, who was dismissed two games into the campaign.

Postecoglou aimed to implement a more attacking style, but his reign began with a loss at Arsenal and was followed by a humiliating 3-2 Carabao Cup exit at Swansea, where Forest squandered a two-goal advantage.

Tensions escalated after Forest were beaten by Midtjylland in the Europa League at the City Ground, in front of owner Evangelos Marinakis, with fans openly expressing their frustration. Subsequent defeats at Newcastle and Chelsea prompted Marinakis to act swiftly.

Previously, Postecoglou was sacked by Tottenham despite guiding the club to a Europa League title, as the team’s 17th-place Premier League finish was deemed unacceptable.
