NSCDC Issues Strong Warning Before FCT Poll
The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in the Federal Capital Territory has deployed thousands of officers as residents head to the polls for Area Council elections.
Commandant Olusola Odumosu addressed personnel before the exercise, urging them to act with discipline and caution while safeguarding voters across the six councils.
He stressed the need for professionalism throughout the process and warned officers to avoid “accidental discharges” while on duty. He reminded them to remain responsible and ensure the safety of voters before, during and after the election.
More than 1.5 million registered voters are expected to decide chairmen and councillors in Abuja Municipal, Bwari, Gwagwalada, Kuje, Abaji and Kwali.
A total of 68 positions are at stake, including six chairmanship seats and 62 councillorship slots.
The corps confirmed that 4,000 personnel have been stationed across the territory to maintain order and prevent any breach of peace as voting gets underway.
