In recognition of his strides in all fields of endeavours, Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has been recognized as Ọkụnyeluife Ndigbo.
Ndị Igbo from eight states with appreciable Igbo presence attended the event where the title was given to the Governor at the twenty fifth anniversary of World Igbo day commemoration at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka.
Speaking shortly after recieving the title, Governor Soludo acknowledged that every nation has passed through their own vissisititudes, stressing that it is an opportunity to reflect on the past of ndị Igbo, but most importantly, on the future of ndị Igbo.
While stating that future of ndị Igbo lies in joining hands to build a prosperous homeland and having the latitude to sour the world, Governor Soludo renewed the call for the cleansing of Igbo land through social and moral rebirth, where hard work, integrity are celebrated rather that wealth by magical means.
Earlier, the President General of Ohaneze Ndị Igbo Worldwide Senator Azuta Mbata represented by the Deputy President General, Prince Okey Nwadinobi recalled that the significance of the day is to remember people who were killed during the war, as well as all those who have died for the Igbo cause, reiterating support for a united Nigeria that stands for all, just as the Anambra State Chairman of Ọhaneze, Chief Chukwuma Okpalaezukwu joined in praising the good works of the Governor in the state which informed the title bestowed on the Governor by the Traditional rulers.
