Chris Okafor, Senior Pastor of Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, has surrendered to the police following serious allegations of misconduct and other related offences.
The Lagos State Police Command said Okafor voluntarily reported after failing to attend a scheduled police invitation on Monday, despite being notified by the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) at Panti the previous day.
Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, told TVC on Wednesday that the pastor initially informed authorities through his lawyer that he would appear on Monday, but he did not show up, prompting police action.
“When he was invited, he got to us through his lawyer that he would be appearing on Monday. So, on Monday, we waited for him. We didn’t see him, and I directed that he should be arrested. Subsequently, he showed up yesterday,” Jimoh said.
The case has now been transferred to the Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Sylvester Alabi, for further investigation. Jimoh added, “We later learned that the same matter had been opened at the Zone 2 headquarters, and the investigation had been ongoing under the Assistant Inspector-General’s command for about three weeks.”
