PDP Opens New Peace Talks
In Abuja, leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party have reopened peace talks to resolve internal disputes ahead of the party’s planned national convention later this month.
The move comes as both sides attempt to stabilise the party before key political activities.
The reconciliation effort is being driven by a bloc led by Tanimu Turaki, with backing from party governors.
Talks began earlier this week, with both sides engaging in fresh discussions aimed at ending months of tension and legal battles within the party.
Party officials say progress is being made, with leaders from the opposing camps now exploring ways to settle differences and restore unity.
Meanwhile, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has dismissed claims that the party is divided.
He insisted there is only one PDP, adding that disagreements among members do not mean a split.
Despite ongoing court cases and past clashes between factions, both sides have indicated willingness to compromise.
Leaders say legal actions may be withdrawn once a final agreement is reached, as efforts continue to reposition the party ahead of future elections.
