Plateau Imposes Curfew After Jos Attack
In Plateau State, authorities have imposed a 48-hour curfew in Jos North after a deadly attack in the Angwan Rukuba area left several people dead and others injured.
The curfew, announced by the state government, took effect from midnight on March 29 and is expected to last until April 1, 2026.
Officials said the move followed a violent incident in Gari Ya Waye community, where gunmen attacked residents.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang condemned the assault, describing it as unprovoked, and assured that security agencies are working to arrest those responsible.
Residents said the attackers arrived on motorcycles and opened fire on people along the road and nearby areas, causing panic and casualties before fleeing the scene.
Security operatives have since been deployed to restore calm, while some angry youths who attempted to block roads were dispersed.
The incident adds to growing security concerns in Plateau, where repeated attacks, killings, and displacement have been recorded in recent years, raising fresh fears among residents.
