Pressure From My Parents Making Me Run For Senate – Governor
Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, has said growing pressure from family, associates, and supporters may push him to reconsider contesting for the Nasarawa North senatorial seat in 2027.
Speaking during a television interview, Sule noted that although he had earlier ruled out seeking another elective position after completing his two terms, persistent appeals are making it difficult to maintain that stance.
He, however, insisted that any potential move to the Senate would not be out of personal need, stressing that his influence and relevance extend beyond politics due to his background in the private sector.
The governor, who also chairs the North-Central Governors’ Forum, said he is yet to decide on a successor ahead of the end of his tenure in 2027, though he acknowledged that several capable individuals are interested.
On national matters, Sule reaffirmed his support for reforms such as state policing and said governors have continued to engage Bola Tinubu on economic and security challenges.
He also downplayed the strength of the African Democratic Congress, expressing confidence in the dominance of the ruling party.
