Rivers State Deputy Governor, Professor Ngozi Odu, has formally left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressives Congress (APC), following Governor Siminalayi Fubara and most state and federal lawmakers who switched parties over a month ago.
Odu completed her registration on Sunday at Akabuka, Ward 8, Unit 11 in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area. She then toured all six zones of the LGA to sensitize residents on the ongoing APC e-registration exercise, according to a statement released Monday by Owupele Benebo, Head of Press, Office of the Deputy Governor.
Speaking to stakeholders after her registration, Odu emphasized that the move is part of efforts to strengthen support for President Bola Tinubu and Governor Fubara.
“The purpose of this exercise is to further consolidate the support base for President Tinubu and Governor Fubara,” she said. “Throughout our tour, large crowds turned out to receive us. People pledged to follow wherever I go, and wherever Governor Fubara and President Tinubu go. I have visited all six zones — Egi, Omoku, Osomini, Igburu, Egbema, and Ndoni — and the reception has been remarkable.”
Odu described her defection as a boost to the APC’s strength in the LGA and a reflection of growing grassroots alignment with the party’s leadership. The statement also noted that hundreds of Labour Party members in Ndoni joined the APC during the tour, expressing enthusiasm at their new political affiliation.
