Rivers Judge Refuses To Set Up Panel On Fubara
The Chief Judge of Rivers State, Simeon Amadi, has refused to set up a judicial panel to investigate Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, following a request from the state House of Assembly.
The decision came after lawmakers asked for a seven-member panel to probe allegations of gross misconduct against the governor and his deputy, as political tension continues to rise in the state.
Amadi declined the request on the grounds that a subsisting court order is already in place, making it legally improper to take further action on the matter at this time.
The issue centres on a deepening rift between the executive and legislative arms of government in Rivers State, with both sides pursuing parallel legal and political steps.
For now, the probe remains stalled, pending further court decisions, as the standoff adds another layer to the ongoing power struggle in the state.
