The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has called on Arise Television presenter Rufai Oseni to quickly reconcile with him, saying such a move would allow him to properly explain infrastructural issues to the journalist.
Umahi made the remark during his end-of-year press briefing, where he accused Oseni of failing to acknowledge positive developments under the current administration.
According to the minister, constructive criticism is welcome, but dismissing every government effort without balance undermines credibility.
“If you criticise us constructively, I will give you answers. But when you refuse to see anything good in the government, you are making yourself cheap,” Umahi said.
He further argued that disputing technical matters without adequate knowledge was problematic, describing himself as a “professor of infrastructure.”
“If two plus two equals four and you insist it is three, while shouting and flexing muscles, then there is a problem,” he added.
Umahi stressed that reconciliation would allow him to address what he described as Oseni’s shortcomings in understanding infrastructure-related matters, noting that he plans to appear publicly to “lecture” him on the subject.
