Senate Urges Tinubu To Sack CAC General
The Senate Committee on Finance has asked President Bola Tinubu to remove the Registrar-General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, Hussaini Magaji, over what it described as his refusal to honour repeated invitations.
The resolution followed a heated session during a budget defence meeting in Abuja.
Lawmakers said the CAC boss had failed on several occasions to appear before the panel to explain issues surrounding the agency’s finances.
They argued that sending junior officers in his place was not acceptable and warned that ignoring the National Assembly weakens oversight.
During the session, some senators pushed for tougher action, including withholding the commission’s 2026 budget allocation until the registrar-general appears in person.
There was also a proposal to stop the agency from spending its internally generated revenue without approval from the legislature.
The committee adopted the resolution through a voice vote, urging the president to take action.
The development adds to rising tensions between the National Assembly and heads of government agencies over compliance with legislative summons.
