Soludo Cracks Down On Absent Workers
In Anambra State, Governor Chukwuma Soludo has ordered the suspension of civil servants who were not at their duty posts by 10 a.m.
The directive followed an unannounced visit to the state secretariat in Awka on Thursday.
During the inspection, the governor moved through offices to check staff attendance and work conduct. He found many workers absent after the official resumption time and described the situation as unacceptable.
The order mandates suspension without pay for those who fail to report early.
Soludo said the civil service must be efficient and disciplined, warning that poor work habits would no longer be tolerated.
While noting lapses among some workers, he also acknowledged those who were present and doing their jobs properly.
The governor added that the state has invested in improving working conditions and expects better commitment in return.
He reaffirmed plans to enforce reforms aimed at building a more productive public service.
