Soludo Steps Into Royal Crisis
A chieftain of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Chinedu Obigwe, has praised Chukwuma Soludo for stepping into the lingering traditional leadership dispute in Awka, saying the move helped prevent a major breakdown of order.
The crisis centres on the contested Eze Uzu stool, which has remained unresolved for some time.
The state government moved in after tensions grew, with authorities seeking support from the Nigeria Police Force to maintain peace following the outcome of a panel set up to review the issue.
Obigwe said the governor acted decisively at a critical moment, noting that the intervention restored calm and protected the integrity of the traditional institution.
He added that the action showed a strong commitment to law and order across the state.
He also pointed out that the government had the legal backing to investigate disputes capable of causing unrest, insisting the step taken would help stabilise the situation and maintain peace in the state.
