Nigeria’s Super Eagles have earned N3.56 billion after finishing third at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, following a tense 4–2 penalty shootout victory over Egypt in Casablanca.
The bronze medal match ended 0–0 in regulation time, with goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali emerging as the hero by saving two penalties, securing Nigeria’s ninth third-place finish in AFCON history.
Senegal were crowned champions for the second time, defeating hosts Morocco 1–0 after extra time in a thrilling final at Stade Moulay Abdellah in Rabat. The decisive goal came just three minutes into extra time when Pape Gueye unleashed a stunning left-footed strike from the edge of the box, silencing the home crowd.
Prize money for the 2025 tournament saw a significant increase. CAF president Patrice Motsepe announced a record $10 million (N14.23 billion) for the champions, up from $7 million (N9.96 billion) in 2023. Morocco, as runners-up, received $4 million (N5.69 billion), while Nigeria’s third-place finish earned $2.5 million (N3.56 billion). Fourth-placed Egypt took home $1.3 million (N1.85 billion).
Quarter-finalists were awarded $800,000 (N1.14 billion) each, teams finishing third in their groups got $700,000 (N996 million), and fourth-placed teams earned $500,000 (N711 million).
