Team Brazil made history at the E1 Lagos Grand Prix on Sunday, storming to their first-ever victory in the all-electric powerboat championship after a flawless weekend on the water.
Starting from pole position earned during Saturday’s qualifying, pilot Timmy Hansen steered the team to a commanding performance, winning every stage of the competition — from the group heats to the final showdown.
Their dominance left Team Blue Rising settling for second place, while Team Drogba secured third. Pre-race favorites Team Rafa and Team Brady, who have been battling for the top of the standings, failed to make the podium this time.
With the Lagos triumph, Team Brazil picked up 38 points, lifting their season tally to 89. Despite the impressive boost, they still trail the championship leaders heading into the final race of the season in Miami next month.
The E1 Lagos GP marked a historic moment for Africa as Lagos became the first city on the continent to host the innovative electric powerboat series.
Dubbed the “Formula One of the seas,” the E1 World Championship showcases cutting-edge electric marine technology, combining speed, sustainability, and spectacle.
Founded by motorsport visionary Alejandro Agag — the creator of Formula E and Extreme E — alongside former Formula One engineer Rodi Basso, the E1 series aims to promote eco-friendly marine innovation through competition.
With Lagos delivering thrilling races and a passionate crowd, all eyes now turn to Miami, where the season’s ultimate champion will be crowned.
