President Bola Tinubu on Friday evening held separate closed-door meetings with the governors of Benue, Kaduna and Cross River states at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, amid mounting security and governance challenges across the country.
The governors, Hyacinth Alia of Benue, Uba Sani of Kaduna and Bassey Otu of Cross River, were said to have arrived individually at the State House before proceeding to the President’s first-floor office for the private engagements.
Although the Presidency did not disclose details of the discussions, sources familiar with the meetings said deliberations centred on pressing security issues and other critical governance concerns affecting the three states.
The issues reportedly discussed included communal violence, banditry and worsening economic pressures in the affected regions.
After the meetings, the governors declined to speak with journalists, offering only brief greetings before departing the Presidential Villa.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement had been released on the outcome of what were described as strategic consultations.
