Pastor Isaac Oyedepo, founder of Isaac Oyedepo Evangelistic Ministries, has revealed that God instructed him not to collect offerings at his ministry’s Sunday services in Abuja.
The announcement was made in a video posted on Sunday, January 11, and reported by Church Times on Tuesday. Oyedepo explained that the ministry’s focus is on discipleship and equipping people to follow Jesus, rather than engaging in traditional financial practices common in many churches.
He said, “God gave me specific instructions not to collect offerings.” While acknowledging that collecting offerings is not wrong for other ministries, Oyedepo emphasized that his mission is centered entirely on the spiritual development of believers.
The announcement coincides with the launch of the ministry’s weekly Sunday services in Abuja.
Drawing inspiration from the early ministry of Jesus Christ, Oyedepo noted, “All Jesus did during His early ministry was to make disciples; the fire fell, and they were filled and refilled. Before He left, He commanded us to do the same.”
He further stressed that genuine spiritual growth requires a continuous engagement with the Word of God, asking, “How healthy would our churches be if people were truly deep in the Scriptures?”
