Tinubu Pledges To Donate All Salaries To Soldiers
In Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has pledged to donate all his salaries since taking office to a new welfare fund for members of the Armed Forces.
The announcement was made as he marked his 74th birthday, with details shared by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The fund is aimed at supporting injured soldiers, as well as families of those who died in service.
Tinubu said the initiative is meant to recognise the sacrifices of military personnel and ensure they are properly supported.
He directed the Accountant-General of the Federation to create a dedicated account for the fund.
The president also called on state governors, lawmakers, private sector players, and other Nigerians to contribute, noting that more details would be provided later.
He maintained that caring for members of the Armed Forces and their families is a national duty, not charity, and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving the welfare of military personnel.
