President Bola Tinubu has pledged to eliminate criminal elements terrorizing Nigeria and to bolster the country’s diplomatic relations with global partners.
Speaking on Thursday before the Federal Executive Council (FEC) met in a closed-door session, Tinubu said, “We are engaging the world diplomatically, and we assure all of you that we will defeat terrorism.”
The meeting at Aso Rock Villa’s Council Chamber marked the first FEC gathering since July, DAILY POST reports.
The President’s remarks follow U.S. President Donald Trump’s designation of Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern,” which the Federal Government has called a misrepresentation of the nation’s security situation.
Tinubu highlighted ongoing efforts to engage the international community in promoting security, stability, and economic growth.
“Despite political headwinds and fears, we will continue to engage with our partners. The success of the $2.3 billion Eurobond, which was oversubscribed, reflects confidence in our economy. The task ahead is immense, but we are determined to move forward with unity and purpose,” he added.
He also reassured Nigerians that the nation remains united and committed to peace and prosperity.
