Former Big Brother Naija housemate Tuoyo Ideh has accused NDLEA operatives of assaulting him during a raid at Proxy Nightclub in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The operation, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, October 26, led to the arrest of popular socialite Pretty Mike and over 100 guests.
In a video posted on Instagram Monday night, Tuoyo said he was at the club as a promoter, helping clients book a table, when officers, accompanied by military personnel, stormed the venue.
He claimed that despite being cleared during initial screening, he was forced into custody with other patrons. While detained, he said he was ordered to roll on the ground and beaten with sticks. The assault reportedly only stopped after a female officer intervened, though he was still made to perform frog jumps despite severe pain.
“I’m a promoter; if you see me outside, it’s for business. I hadn’t even been inside 30 minutes when everyone was told to go down. I saw people in black and military uniforms. They took our phones and checked me from head to toe, even my socks, and found nothing. Then they made us sit outside on the floor, which was humiliating,” he said.
“After some time, a woman pointed at me. Five men rushed me, slapped me, and one said, ‘Na you go post abi? Shoot him.’ They hit me with sticks, kicked me, and slapped me. I was rolling on the floor struggling to breathe. I’ve never been beaten like that in my life.”
Tuoyo added in the caption: “Nigeria finally happened to me 💔 😥🥺. I can’t even stand or lie down properly. The beating left my legs, hands, back, and head in so much pain. Yesterday, I felt helpless. The intimidation and humiliation were overwhelming. We live in a country where human rights and freedom of speech are constantly disregarded.”
