Nollywood star Uche Ogbodo has opened up about why she opted for body enhancement surgery, saying the decision was driven by her struggle with body image after having children.
Speaking with Saturday Beats, the mother of three revealed that her post-pregnancy appearance affected her confidence and pushed her to make a change.
“Being busty growing up didn’t mean I had an hourglass figure, and childbirth changed my body even more,” she said. “After my third baby, I didn’t like what I saw in the mirror. I felt I had to do something for myself — for my happiness, confidence, and mental well-being. This wasn’t for anyone else. I am my own competition.”
Ogbodo explained that she chose to be open about her surgery because she believes in honesty and transparency, especially as a public figure.
“Too many celebrities pretend they didn’t have any work done, misleading those who look up to them. I believe in using my experience to inspire women and remind them that it’s okay to take steps to feel better about themselves,” she said.
The actress shared that going through three cesarean sections had taken a toll on her body, influencing her decision to enhance her figure. “No one is perfect, especially mothers who’ve had multiple C-sections. I didn’t want to just show up one day with a flat tummy and big butt without explaining how I got there.”
She added that her husband fully supported her decision and understood her need for the change. Addressing the potential risks, Ogbodo noted, “Everything carries risk, even malaria. I felt safe because I was in good hands.”
