Wike Promises Cooperation To New Chairmen
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has promised to work closely with the six newly elected Area Council chairmen in Abuja as they prepare to assume office.
He made the assurance on Wednesday while receiving the incoming council leaders ahead of their swearing in scheduled for June.
Wike said political differences should not stand in the way of development in the nation’s capital.
According to him, cooperation among leaders from different parties is necessary to deliver good governance to residents of the FCT.
He explained that the FCT administration has often worked with people from different political backgrounds and intends to continue that approach.
The minister described the planned collaboration with the new chairmen as a rainbow coalition that focuses on development rather than party lines.
The minister urged the incoming officials to prepare for their responsibilities and promised that his office would support their work once they assume duty.
He also commended the outgoing council leaders and wished them success in their future endeavours.
