Wike Sends Strong Message In PDP Fight
The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has declared that his faction of the Peoples Democratic Party remains firmly in control of the party structure amid the ongoing leadership dispute.
He made the statement on Wednesday night during the 106th National Executive Committee meeting organised by the Abdulrahman Mohammed faction in Abuja.
The meeting followed the recent Court of Appeal ruling which recognised the current caretaker leadership of the party.
Wike said his camp is open to reconciliation but insisted any negotiations must reflect the strength of his faction.
He also warned against secret political dealings and asked those seeking peace to present clear proposals openly.
The minister also dismissed claims that his role in the ruling administration makes him disloyal to the PDP.
He maintained that the planned national convention of the party must go ahead as scheduled and rejected suggestions of creating another caretaker committee, insisting the current leadership will continue preparations.
